Pneumatic Piston and Actuator Components

High speed assembly lines rely on many pneumatically operated pistons and actuators to move and assemble components. These devices will move and actuate thousands of times a day. Part failure would result in a line stop situation, so these products need to be manufactured from superior materials to ensure this does not happen. Delrin® homopolymer acetal is found in the sliding bearing surfaces between the actuator rods and housing as it reduces friction and wear considerably.

Compared to acetal copolymer, Delrin® acetal homopolymer offers higher tensile strength, stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance, and significantly higher impact resistance. The extra mechanical properties of Delrin® allow for parts to be made thinner and smaller, whilst delivering the same performance of a thicker, less compact copolymer acetal moulding.

Spotlight on Delrin®:

  • Dimensional stability in all environments
  • Advanced low wear and friction properties against metal
  • Advanced grades with PTFE low friction technology
