Bimodal HDPE for Cable Jacketing

Bimodal HDPE allows you to retain the strength properties of HDPE whilst also benefiting from hugely improved environmental stress crack resistance and ease of processing. This makes it an ideal polyethylene solution for cable jacketing.

Bimodal high density polyethylene (HDPE) resins consist of dual peaks in their molecular weight distributions created by the combination of Low MW and High MW polymerisation processes in a single reactor. This leads to the product having the strength and stiffness of HDPE, whilst retaining the high-stress-crack resistance and processability of a monomodal medium density polyethylene.

Spotlight on Bimodal HDPE:

  • Excellent extrudability
  • Outstanding stress-cracking resistance
  • Good toughness and resistance to heat deformation
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Low shrinkage
  • UV stabilised grades
