Hinge and Lock Mechanisms

Modern building window designs provide seamless and effortless opening and closing functionality. Windows need to maintain this efficiency over a long period of time and the steel hinge construction will rely on the sliding bearing surfaces that Delrin® provides for the smooth operation of the window.

Compared to acetal copolymer, Delrin® acetal homopolymer offers higher tensile strength, stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance, and significantly higher impact resistance. The extra mechanical properties of Delrin® allow for parts to be made thinner and smaller, whilst delivering the same performance of a thicker, less compact copolymer acetal moulding.

Spotlight on Delrin®:

  • Super low friction grades
  • Sustainable options
  • Low wear against metal
  • Low noise options
  • Low emission options with Delrin® CPE
