Drip Irrigation

Eraclene® is a high density polyethylene resin (HDPE), hexene copolymer, produced in a gas-phase manufacturing process and is available in a wide range of molecular weights, weight distributions and crystallinity to tackle the requirements of the most sophisticated and specialised applications.

The specific properties of Eraclene® DB 506 are exhibited when used for the production of drip irrigation pipes. Eraclene® DB 506 can easily be used in blends with LLDPE and LDPE grades to modify the final properties of the drip irrigation pipe to the specific requirements.

Spotlight on Eraclene® DB 506:

  • EU food contact approved
  • Balanced molecular weight distribution
  • Low gel contentment
  • Excellent sealability, melt strength and drawability
  • High extrusion rate

For outdoor applications, such as drip irrigation, the addition of a UV additive is recommended and, when combined with a Carbon Black masterbatch, can provide outstanding resistance to UV radiation.

Polyethylene is one of the most common materials in everyday life and accounts for approximately 30% of the total volume of plastic material produced worldwide. It is believed that one in three plastic objects is made of polyethylene, including packaging, bottles and industrial containers to far more sophisticated applications including vehicle tanks, solar panels and medical.
