Teflon® FEP

Teflon® FEP is a fluorinated ethylene propylene available as pellets, powder or as stabilised aqueous dispersions. Applications for the family of resins include melt extrusion, injection moulding, transfer moulding, blow moulding, rotational moulding, coating, and impregnating.

End products of Teflon® FEP and Teflon® PFA are known for their:

  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Superior electrical properties
  • High service temperatures of up to 260°C

In addition, Teflon® PFA and Teflon® FEP provide:

  • Superior creep resistance at high temperatures
  • Excellent low-temperature toughness
  • Exceptional flame resistance

Teflon® PFA and Teflon® FEP combines the processing ease of conventional thermoplastic resins with the excellent properties of Teflon® polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).

Typical Teflon® PFA & FEP Applications

  • Fluid transfer
  • Foamed coaxial cables
  • Capillary tubes
  • Valves and linings
  • High temperature connectors
  • Large, heat-shrinkable tubing for roll covers
  • Insulation for telecommunication cables
  • Small diameter industrial tubing
  • General cable jacketing

Commercially Available Teflon® PFA & FEP Fluoropolymers

  • General purpose, moulding and extrusion resins
  • High molecular weight resins giving resistance to unusual environmental extremes
  • Low molecular weight resin designed for high-speed wire extrusion
  • Low viscosity resin with proprietary foam nucleants added
  • Intermediate viscosity resin with proprietary foam nucleants added
  • No load continuous use temperatures of 260°C
  • Weather resistant
  • Inert to most solvents and chemicals and is hydrolytically stable
  • Very high molecular weight grades with enhanced resistance to environmental stress cracking
