Cabot has developed a range of compounds that are electrically conductive and therefore greatly reduce the risk of a catastrophic discharge of electrostatic energy. The conductive properties of the CABELEC® compounds are permanent and are an integral part of the performance of the material. Outside influences such as humidity are not required to achieve the electrical performance. These compounds have been designed for use on conventional plastic processing equipment.
The CABELEC® range of electrically conductive compounds meets the needs of many industries where permanent reduction of electrostatic hazards is required. CABELEC® compounds are based on a large variety of thermoplastic polymers such as HDPE, MDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, PP, PS, PC, PA 6, POM & TPU. The CABELEC® compounds are designed to fulfil specific requirements related to electrical, rheological and mechanical properties.
- Conductive plastics packaging and handling systems
- Microchip boxes
- Microchip bags
- Carrier tapes
- Non-conductive flooring and matting
- Industrial storage vessels for fine powders
- Housings for technical equipment
- Automotive Fuel system components
CABELEC® compounds are carefully formulated products based on conductive carbon black. The type of carbon black, the addition level and the dispersion quality are key factors for achieving good conductivity – or less electrical resistivity.
